The WFNR is committed to the establishment and development of equal opportunities in its policies and practices.
The WFNR will apply this in all aspects of staff and members’ association with the organisation, from recruitment and election through to cessation of employment and term of office.
The WFNR will apply this in all aspects of its relationships, whether as members or otherwise, including application procedures for membership, access to services and participation in activities.
The WFNR will ensure that no individual or group within the organisation is discriminated against because of a `protected characteristic’. The Equality Act defines the protected characteristics as being age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality, caste and ethnic or national origins), sexual orientation, religion or belief, or because someone is married or in a civil partnership.
The WFNR will ensure that no employee, member or applicant is discriminated against through a condition or requirement of a job or position which cannot be objectively justified. WFNR shall value individuals and organisations for their contribution and shall give them the opportunity to realise their full potential within WFNR in so far as this contributes towards the fulfilment of its mission.
The WFNR will ensure that the Board, staff, members and volunteers abide by the content and spirit of this statement.
The WFNR is committed to a programme of action to make this policy fully effective, and will constantly monitor and review the procedures, practices and guidelines that underpin it.
Event endorsement guidance
The WFNR welcomes the organisation of regional and national courses and meetings on all topics in neurorehabilitation, and may endorse and/or provide expert input to such meetings.
Application criteria
The criteria for endorsement are as follows:
- The course or meeting must be consistent with the WFNR mission statement
- The applicant responsible for the course or meeting content should be a WFNR member of good standing
- The applicant responsible for the course or meeting should have no pecuniary interest in the meeting
- The content of the course or meeting should be determined predominantly by the applicant responsible for the meeting with expert input from the WFNR as required
- The content of the course or meeting must not have any restrictions or qualifying requirements imposed by any commercial sponsor
- The content of the course or meeting must be submitted to the WFNR for consideration. A decision will be given within one month of submission of the request
Course or meeting organiser obligations
The course or meeting organiser will:
- Acknowledge WFNR support at the course or meeting
- Display the WFNR logo on all materials associated with the course or meeting
- Offer preferential rates to WFNR members attending the course or meeting; a minimum 30% reduction for WFNR members should be applied
WFNR obligations
The WFNR will:
- Advise on programme content
- Provide expert input as required
- Provide the WFNR logo
- Include the course or meeting on the WFNR website events calendar
- Include the course or meeting in the WFNR Update newsletter
- Circulate the course or meeting information by email from the WFNR to the relevant members

Memorandum on programme creation elements for WFNR World Congresses
The mission of WFNR is to promote

--services in the field of Neurorehabilitation
WFNR follows a strict equal opportunity policy. Therefore, the programme structure of World Congresses should, whenever possible, follow a balance of gender and geographical representations among speakers.
To ease the selection of programme elements for the programme committeee, each proposal must contain the following information:
For Symposia (usually 2-3 speakers) 90 minute duration
Title
Chairperson (and /or symposium organiser)
Names and addresses of all speakers
Speakers topics with precise titles
Up to 200 word abstract of the symposium
For workshops (usually up to 2 presenters) 60-120 minute duration
Title
Target group
Names and addresses of presenters
Up to 200 word abstract of workshop contents
Eventually information on necessary equipment for „hands-on“ training or demonstrations
For Round tables (90-120 minute duration)
Target group
Title
Name of RT organiser
Names of RT speakers
Information on RT structure ( e.g. impulse statements of each speakeer plus RT discussion or just RT discussion open to plenary floor etc)
Up to 200 word abstract on RT objectives
General rules
The Programme Committee should ascertain that a balance of scientific and educational aspects can be covered . This includes high class clinical and experimental work as well as important educational and political issues in the field .
The Programme Committee should, as far as possible, ascertain that the broadest possible spectrum in neurorehabilitation is addressed. When there is a special thematic highlight on a world congress, this should have priority
Input from WFNR SIGs, which form an important and vital backbone structure of WFNR should have priority and cover ca 50% of the programme. It should be ascertained that due to paucity of slots, good proposals from SIGs which cannot be taken for a world congress should be put on a „waiting list“ for the next WCNR and have priority there.
